The DMDM hydantoin preservative is in cosmetic products to prevent the growth of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeast and mold. This preservative for lotions and creams is compatible with cations, anions, non-ionic surfactants, emulsifiers and protein-rich solutions. The fungicide remains stable in a wide range of pH values and temperatures.
