Diatomaceous Earth Filter, DE Filter
The diatomaceous earth filter is used to remove exceptionally small particles such as microorganisms and is often used for beer and water filtration in the beverage industry. The clarity degree reaches 99.8%, allowing for E. Coli removal when operated correctly.
The natural diatomaceous earth must undergo a variety of processes in order to remove organics and other impurities for a better fineness, porosity, and surface characteristics. This porous particle structure filters out particles that are less than 0.1 to 1 microns, such as microorganisms and bacteria.
- Mainly made of silicon dioxide, the filter aid diatomaceous earth is chemical inert, allowing it to work in solutions with varying concentrations and temperatures, maintaining it’s original properties.
- Due to various particle dimensions and shapes, the filter aid has relatively large surface areas and high porosity, giving it a high filtration rate and desired clarity.
- The diatomaceous earth filter features small particles for sterilization in order to create a biofilm that removes most pathogenic bacteria.
