Cold rolled ribbed rebar is used as reinforcement bar in many different concrete structures. The cold rolled rod is used because it is strong yet flexible in order to support massive concrete installations.
Cold-rolled ribbed steel is graded by the CRB. There are five grades: CRB550, CRB650, CRB800, CRB970 and CRB1170. CRB is for ordinary reinforced concrete steel.
Cold rolled ribbed bar has the following advantages
1. High strength steel, it can save material and minimize project costs. Compared with hot rolled round steel bar, CRB550 is used for cast-in-place structures (especially in the floors/roofs), can reduce steel usage by 35%-40%. It is also more affordable per unit.
2. The adhesive property between cold-rolled ribbed steel bar and concrete is perfect. Therefore, it eliminates the cracking of the anchorage zone and the phenomenon of steel slipping.
3. Elongation is larger than the same kind of other cold steel bars.
