Rotational Molding
Rotational molding is among the plastic processes well known for producing quite durable parts with high longevity. Polyethylene is the most commonly used raw material. It is a unique process using heat to melt and fuse material in the closed mold. Unlike most other plastic molding processes, it applies no pressure. Generally, rotational molding process is a four-stage process. It includes loading the polyethylene resin in the mold, heating and fusing the resin, cooling and finally unloading the part from the mold.
As the charged mold is moved into an oven, it rotates slowly around two perpendicular axles, causing the material to disperse and adhere to the inner surface of the mold until it is completely fused. After the material is fully fused, the mold is cooled by air or water spray or a combination of both while still rotating. This lowers the temperature of the mold in a gradual manner. When cooled, the mold is opened, finished part is removed and the mold is recharged for the next cycle.
The raw materials that we use for making rotomolded parts are LLDPE of SCG, ExxonMobil and other well known brands.
