Applications PGA absorbable sutures are ideal for general surgical procedures and ligatures, particularly in areas such as general surgery, skin closure, gastrointestinal surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, Plastic Surgery, urology, and ophthalmology. However, they are not recommended for use in cardiovascular tissue and neural tissue.

Development of PGA Sutures Polyglycolic acid (PGA) sutures, introduced in the early 1970s, were the first synthetic absorbable sutures. Made from 100% glycolide homopolymer and coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate, these sutures meet all FDA and USP standards. The sutures are available in dyed (FDA-approved D & C violet) and undyed forms, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for absorbable surgical sutures.
