The largest and most critical wire harness in drones, delivering power to the motors, and ensuring reliable, high-current, and precise power distribution.
- Drone battery main harness: the main cable that connects smart batteries to PDB (power distribution board) or ESC (electronic speed regulator). Typically, the wire gauge is thick (12AWG, 10AWG) and equipped with high-current connectors (such as XT60, XT90/EC5) to handle tens of amperes of instantaneous current.
- Harnesses to connect the ESC to the motor: connects ESC output terminals to the three-phase lines of brushless motors. Usually, three silicone wires (red, black, blue) are bundled together; wire gauge depends on the motor’s power.
- Power distribution harness: multiple cables are routed from the PDB to other components such as electronic speed controllers, drone flight control systems, and video transmission devices. These harnesses distribute power at different voltages (e.g., 12V, 5V) to each component.
These harnesses are the core of signal transmission. They connect the flight controller to sensors and actuators, enabling control and data flow. Ensure accurate control, navigation, and status indication.
- Receiver Harness: a small flat DuPont cable that connects the flight controller to the remote-control receiver, transmitting control signals including PPM, SBUS, CRSF.
- ESC Harness: a small flat cable, usually consisting of three wires — signal, 5V , and GND. It connects the flight controller to the Electronic Speed Controller (ESC).
- GPS/Compass Module Harness: a flat cable connecting the flight controller to the GPS/Compass module. It transmits location, speed, drone heading, and geomagnetic data.
- IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) Harness: the IMU is typically integrated into the flight controller, but in some high-end designs, it is separated from the flight controller and connected to it via a flat cable.
- LED Strip Light Signal Harness: a wiring assembly that connects the flight controller to LED strip lights for indicating flight status such as alarms, low-battery warnings.
These harnesses are used in aerial photography and industrial drones with cameras and sensors. Ensure reliable data transmission from sensors for navigation, obstacle avoidance, and monitoring.
- Vision Sensor Harnesses: FPC flat cables or coaxial cables that connect the front, rear, and downward cameras with the main control module.
- Infrared/TOF (Time of Flight) Sensor Harnesses: connect infrared distance or laser distance sensors.
- Ultrasonic Sensor Harnesses: cables that connect bottom ultrasonic altitude modules.
