Non-Absorbable Sutures
Polypropylene sutures are monofilament, synthetic, non-absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a strand of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. These sterile sutures are pigmented blue for enhanced visibility during surgery and meet all EP and USP standards. The alignment between the suture strand and needle reduces needle hole bleeding, providing permanent wound support. Known as Prolene sutures, they are widely used in orthopedic, plastic, micro, general, and cardiovascular surgeries. They offer excellent tensile strength, minimal tissue reaction, and do not cause infection or tissue rupture.
