Sulfur Dioxide (SO 2 )
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is the most common and simplest sulfur oxide, with the chemical formula SO2. It is a colorless gas with an irritating and pungent odor. SO2 is soluble in water, ethyl alcohol, and ether. When dissolved in water, it forms sulfurous acid (H2SO3), which can be further oxidized to produce sulfuric acid efficiently.

Sulphuric Acid Products
Mainly used to produce sulfur trioxide (SO3), sulfuric acid, sulfurous acid salts, and thiosulfates. It is also used as fumigants, preservatives, disinfectants, and reducing agents.
Food & Wine Preservatives
In China, sulfur dioxide is an approved bleaching agent. It bleaches food and strongly inhibits oxidase enzymes in plant-based foods. It is permitted in wines and fruit wines, with a maximum usage of 0.25g/kg and a residual limit of 0.05g/kg.
Refrigerants
Used as an organic solvent and refrigerant, and also in the refining of various lubricants.
