Scraper Drum Dryer
Application
The scraper drum dryer is a single cylinder dryer that is used for various slurry drying applications, especially for recovering waste yeasts for breweries. This series of drying machine is suitable for breweries with an annual scale of 30,000 to 100,000 tons of beer. The drying equipment is also designed for other food, chemical and medicine applications.
Mechanical structure and operating principle:
This type of drying unit, heats the material and evaporates the moisture by indirect heating from a steam source. Its dryer cylinder rotates slurry that has been preheated and is then pumps the slurry to the leaching material tank at the lower part of the cylinder. The drying cylinder submerges about 60-80mm into the slurry and coats itself uniformly in slurry. The heat within the chamber then evaporates the moisture in the slurry and the solid residue is scraped off for collection.
Main Characteristic and Performance
The dryer cylinder that makes contact with the material is made from high grade cast iron that is designed to be anti-corrosion and free from pollutants. This machine uses conductive heating, preventing any heat loss. The high heat utilization leads to energy consumption that is up to 30 percent less than similar dryers.
The factors that influence the performance of the machine are as follows:
(1)Steam pressure(0.1-0.4Mpa)
(2)Rotating speed(4~10r/min)
(3)The thickness of the film(that is the thickness of the material attaching to the surface of the dryer cylinder
(4)The characteristic of the material (such as the content, fluid and temperature of the solid matter)
