Electrolyzer

Alkaline electrolyzers are critical equipment for large-scale hydrogen production from renewable energy sources. The intermittency and variability of wind and solar power pose significant challenges to the stability and security of the power grid. Integrating large-scale renewable energy sources with electrolytic hydrogen production not only enhances the energy utilization efficiency of renewable power systems but also effectively addresses the challenge of sourcing green hydrogen.

As an electrical conversion device, the alkaline electrolyzer is key for renewable energy electrolysis water hydrogen production technology. It must adapt to the unstable power output of renewable sources. Alkaline electrolyzers are currently the only devices that meet the demands for large-scale engineering applications in water electrolysis for hydrogen production, offering advantages such as technological maturity and low cost.

Application

Alkaline electrolyzers are used for producing hydrogen and manufacturing metals like sodium, potassium hydroxide, lithium, and aluminum. They are also utilized in electroplating, descaling, and cleaning industrial equipment. For instance, in electroplating, the current within the electrolyzer helps transfer metal from one electrode to another, forming a protective, lustrous metal layer. In descaling, the current can induce chemical reactions that remove mineral impurities from equipment surfaces. In cleaning, the electrolyzer facilitates the removal of dirt and deposits on equipment surfaces through electrolytic reactions.
