Laboratory extruders for product development, material samplings and small batch production
- PLC control
- Screw diameter: 20mm (others on request)
- L/D ratio: 40:1
The laboratory twin screw extruder with clamshell barrel features a split-barrel design, allowing for easy opening for cleaning or inspection. This design is particularly suitable for industries with frequent color changes or cleaning requirements. The modular screw design includes multiple functional blocks such as conveying, mixing, and shearing, allowing users to combine them based on material and process needs for efficient mixing and plastification.
Take your polymer processing to the next level with the laboratory twin screw extruder with clamshell barrel, designed for flexibility and easy maintenance.
Applications
The laboratory twin screw extruder with clamshell barrel is primarily used for:
- Recycling operations of engineering plastics, modified plastics, and waste plastics
- Masterbatch processing and production
- Customized mixing and plastification of various polymer materials

The mandrel is made from 40CrNiMoA chromium-molybdenum alloy tool steel, while the threaded components are made from W6Mo5CR4V2 wear-resistant alloy steel, with a hardness of HRC60. The screw is equipped with conveying blocks, mixing blocks, shearing blocks, banburying blocks, kneading blocks, countercurrent blocks, and modular building block components. The mandrel is connected with a gradually splined design, and the components can be combined according to any material ratio to meet different extrusion process requirements. - Combination Method
The screw assembly follows a building block spiral design with a self-cleaning function. The machine barrel is multi-sectioned, featuring a clamshell open structure for easy cleaning and observation. - Heating Zone
The barrel is equipped with 5 cast aluminum heaters, with 1 heater at the machine head. Each section has a heating power of 1 kW, and the external parts are covered with a safety protective wind hood. - Cooling Zone
The entire barrel section is equipped with a soft water circulation cooling system. The water flow rate for each section is adjustable. The system is equipped with a self-priming circulating water pump, a 304 stainless steel water storage tank, inlet and outlet water pipes, and electromagnetic valve components. Independent temperature control and cooling can be implemented for each barrel section. - Electric Control System
The system uses a PLC programmable color touch screen, man-machine interface operation system, and dynamically displays and monitors the extrusion process. It includes temperature control, driving, speed, pressure, interlocking, and intercontrol functions.
