After clothes have been cleaned, sterilized, and dried, they're placed in the helmke drum and rotated. As clothes tumble, any remaining fibers, dirt or other particles are airborne, and a probe in the center of the drum removes them. The particle test generator has a particle counter which determines the degree of cleanliness of the clothes.
