Medium/High Voltage Generator Sets
Medium/high voltage generator sets are designed to meet the increasing power demands of modern infrastructure and industrial operations, where conventional low-voltage diesel gensets often fall short. In facilities such as data centers, high-rise buildings, polysilicon production plants, and mining sites, power requirements can be exceptionally high. Traditional 400V AC diesel generator sets face limitations including large cable diameters, higher line losses, complex installation, and elevated costs, making them unsuitable for many applications. In such cases, medium and high voltage AC generator sets offer a more efficient and practical solution.
- Medium voltage generator sets deliver output voltages between 1kV and 35kV, with common ratings including 3.3kV, 6.6kV, 10.5kV, 11kV, and 13.8kV.
- High voltage generator sets provide output voltages above 35kV, catering to projects with even greater electrical requirements.
These voltage generator sets enable more efficient power transmission over long distances, reduce installation costs, and improve overall system performance, making them an ideal choice for demanding large-scale applications, such as factories, where equipment is likely to be spread out.
Medium/high voltage generator sets are widely used across industries and critical infrastructure where large-scale, reliable power is essential:
- Serve as primary or backup power sources for large factories, mining operations, and oilfields
- Support national and regional power grids for peak shaving, emergency supply, and distributed energy systems, ensuring grid stability
- Provide high-reliability power for large data centers
- Supply main and emergency power for large commercial vessels, engineering ships, and offshore drilling platforms
- Deliver backup power to key facilities such as airports, hospitals, and rail transit systems
- Extended service life: Compared with high-voltage systems, low-voltage generators carry 26 times more current, resulting in greater heat load and energy loss. High current also increases wear on output breakers, reducing equipment lifespan. Medium/high voltage systems mitigate these issues, helping to delay aging and extend service life.
- Lower risk of asynchronous short circuits: When multiple low-voltage generators operate separately without synchronization, differences in supply systems can lead to asynchronous short circuits. Medium/high voltage generator sets significantly reduce this risk through better system stability and synchronization.
- Enhanced safety: Low-voltage generator breakers face higher arc intensity due to excessive current, increasing the likelihood of arc damage. Medium/high voltage units operate at lower currents for the same power output, reducing arc formation and improving operational safety.
