Mixing heads for agitation and stirring

Cup Agitator (Eustar Mixer)

The cup agitator features a unique cup-shaped impeller with three blades strategically angled to compensate for one another, which allows for efficient axial flow within the mixing tank. This maximizes flow coverage, ensuring that even low-viscosity fluids are evenly distributed within the container. One of the key advantages of this design is its energy efficiency. The specially designed shape of the blades allows for a broader flow area with less power, which can be advantageous for large-scale, continuous mixing applications.

Applications
The impeller's cup-shaped design promotes rapid, uniform mixing of low-viscosity materials, making it effective for blending and dispersion tasks. While the cup agitator is primarily designed for low-viscosity mixing, it also provides sufficient shear to handle tasks such as dispersion and dissolution, delivering consistent and homogenous results for a variety of applications.

Cage Agitator (High Shear Mixing Head)

The cage agitator is a high-speed agitator that features outer rotor with long-slotted guide chambers and a specially designed impeller. This configuration ensures high fluid throughput while creating powerful macro mixing and localized fine dispersion within the container. The agitator delivers excellent dispersion, emulsification, and homogenization for materials with viscosities of up to 30,000 cP (Newtonian fluids) and 300,000 cP (non-Newtonian fluids).

Applications
The cage agitator is easy to install, simple to operate, and versatile in its range of uses. It is ideal for powder-liquid mixing processes with high solid content, such as the dispersion, homogenization, and shearing emulsification of pectin, soy protein, and starch powders.

Counter-Rotating Agitator

The counter-rotating agitator is a dual-action mixer that features a central and outer agitator, each operating at independent speeds to perform complementary functions. The central agitator rotates at higher speeds and is optimized for dispersion while the outer agitator is connected to an anchor with scrapers to homogenize and remove the product from the tank walls eliminating dead zones and effectively addressing issues like material buildup on the container walls, clumping, and sedimentation in viscous materials. The system produces opposing flows that crosses inside the tank to ensure that every material is thoroughly broken down and evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Applications
This agitator is ideal for mixing medium to high-viscosity materials, ensuring efficient dissolution, dispersion, reaction, emulsification, and aggregation processes. Its unique dual-action mixing mechanism makes it suitable for complex mixing tasks in industries such as personal care, pharmaceuticals, and fine chemicals, where precision and thorough mixing are essential for product quality and consistency.

Curved Blade Turbine Impeller

The curved blade turbine impeller produces radial-flow with less shear and power consumption. It is known for its strong discharge capabilities, combining both shear force and circulation power. When installed in a vessel with baffles, the impeller creates two distinct circulation loops, one above and one below the blades, leading to a high flow output.

Applications
This impeller is suitable for high shear mixing and dispersing, particularly used for solid-liquid suspension. It is also ideal for other mixing processes such as, blending, gas absorption, and crystallization.

Frequently Asked Questions

FLUKO provides a wide range of vessel-mounted agitators, including general mixing, suspension systems, and high-viscosity systems, which can be customized to suit your specific needs. We can also manufacture equipment based on customer-provided drawings. Additionally, we highly recommend the exceptional Jetmixers® dispersing mixers for your applications.

The selection of a mechanical seal depends on several factors, such as the type and characteristics of the material, the temperature and pressure inside the vessel, the size and speed of the agitator, and the external operating environment. Our professional technicians and consultants can recommend the most suitable mechanical seal based on your operational conditions.

A coupling inside the vessel facilitates the installation and maintenance of mechanical seals, shafts, and impellers. A coupling is essential in some cases, for e.g. where displacement compensation is required, while in other cases, it simply enhances ease of use and maintenance.

Depending on your operational needs, baffles may be required for standard center-mounted mixers, especially when fluid viscosity is low, and improved mixing performance is desired. Feel free to consult our technicians for specific design recommendations.

The range of mixing for a specific type and size of impeller is often limited. Our team of technicians can help determine the optimal configuration for your process, which may include multiple agitators or multi-level impeller setups to achieve the desired mixing results.
