Worm shafts are a rotating axis with curved teeth, and work in conjunction with a worm gear in order to achieve a relatively high reduction ratio, and are most often used in transmission systems. Worm shafts feature a helical thread, and with a worm gear axis at the terminal, the worm shaft will rotate the worm gear, and prevent reverse rotation of the gear.

JST produces precision worm shafts in a variety of materials according to customer needs, and will confirm the thread number with the client before production, as the thread number on a worm shaft, and the teeth number on a worm gear will decide the gear ratio.
