Simazine
Simazine is a selective triazine herbicide used to control broad-leaved weeds and annual grasses on the fields, berry fruits, vegetables, ornamental crops, turf grasses, and the orchards. Also, it is often used as a nonselective weed killer in industrial areas.
Before 1992, simazine was utilized to control submerged weeds and algae in large aquariums, farm ponds, fish hatcheries, swimming pools, ornamental ponds, and cooling towers. It is available in wettable powder, water dispersible granule, and suspension concentrate formulations.
Applications
Simazine is applicable to the pome fruit, stone fruit, sugarcane, citrus fruit, vines, strawberries, nuts, olives, pineapples, broad beans, green beans, peas, maize, sweet corn, asparagus, hops, alfalfa, lupins, oilseed rape, artichokes, cocoa, coffee, rubber, oil palms, tea, turf, and the ornamentals. It is able to control most pre-emergence annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. This product is applied at rates up to 1.5kg/ha within the EU, and up to 2-3 kg/ha in perennial crops in the tropics and subtropics.
