Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings
Both stainless steel pipes and plates can be applied for production of stainless steel pipe fitting. Common stainless steel features great corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and excellent acid resistance. Some types even stand out in terms of withstanding heat and oxidation at high-temperature.
Generally, stainless steel type and production process selected for manufacturing of stainless steel pipe fittings are determined by the outer diameter and wall thickness of the finished pipe fittings required. Please refer to the situations listed below.
Outside diameter | Wall thickness | Material | Production process |
1/2 inch to 24 inches | ≤Sch80 | Seamless steel pipe | Cold molding by mandrel/Cold forming |
>Sch80 | Hot forming | ||
6 inches to 100 inches | ≤20mm | Steel plate | Cold forming by mold |
>20mm | Hot forming by mold |
Once formed, stainless steel pipe fittings will have to go through solution treatment process first. Then impurities and any oxidation that forms on the surface will be removed by pickling and a passivation layer is then created on the surface. At last, the surface could be imprinted based on customer’s requirements.
