WINDSIFTER, DENSIMETRIC SEPARATOR
Windsifters are waste management machines applied to separate lightweight impurities from waste mixtures using a powerful stream of air. The waste is fed into the separation chamber via a wide, flat belt conveyor. The conveyor will carry piles of waste through the chamber as a strong stream of air will blow away light waste material like films, paper, and small particles, while leaving behind heavier products such as glass bottles and large plastic pieces. The separated light materials are then removed by a vacuum drum or screen conveyor inside the separator.
Windsifters are typically installed in MRFs (material recovery facilities) or MBT (mechanical biological treatment) operations just prior to automatic sorting systems to separate light materials such as film, paper, and dust from larger piles of waste. The equipment enables automatic sorting with unparalleled efficiency and purity.
- Separating heavy wastes (e.g. glass bottles) from lighter materials (e.g. paper, film, dust)
- Adjustable jet pressure and air volume can optimize sorting efficiency and purity depending on the sorting needs of the job at hand
- Purifying polluted air during separation, thus improving the safety of the working environment and minimizing air pollution
