ICE Melting Device
During the winter, power lines are easily coated in ice in cold climates, and if a significant amount of ice fails to melt within a short period of time, the electric power lines run the risk of collapsing or not performing, resulting in thousands without power. TCR-type SVC equipment transforms the valve bank topology into a device similar to a rectifier and converts the line’s AC current into a pulsating direct current that heats the line after a line outage to quickly melt ice and protect the power lines.
The main working principle of melting ice based on SVC technology: a high DC current passes through the transmission leading wire and is obtained through rectification. The DC current is much higher than normal working currents, resulting in leading wire heating, thus melting ice and snow. When ice melting is not needed, simply change the main wiring connection methods to SVC working modes for normal power transmission.
