Activated carbon is a microcrystalline carbonaceous material with a developed internal pore structure, large surface area and strong adsorption capacity.
The reason why activated carbon has such excellent absorbability is that it has a specially developed pore structure, just like sponges can absorb more water than other objects with the same mass. Though the pore structure of activated carbon cannot be observed by the naked eye, the surface area of one gram of this material is 500~700m2. Because of the unique internal structure, activated carbon has outstanding absorption capacity and a wide application range including water treatment equipment filtration, residential air filtration, etc.
