Product Introduction
A reducing coupling in a grooved piping system is designed to provide a restraining piping connection while reducing (or increasing) a pipe's size. It is a transition piece where pipes of different sizes can be paired together using a single pipe tee. After the pipe ends are grooved, a rubber gasket suitable for that particular system is stretched over the pipe ends. The coupling segments are then placed over the gasket, and the nuts and bolts are fastened, resulting in a secure and leak free pipe joint. A flat metal washer inside the coupling prevents the telescoping of the smaller pipe into the larger one. Flow calculations of a reducing coupling are similar to that of concentric reducers.
