Brief Description
Lifting hook is the most commonly used lifting tool of hoisting machinery. It is usually attached to the wire rope of the hoisting mechanism with the aid of pulley block or other parts. According to shapes, this crane hook can be classified into single hook and double hook; according to manufacturing methods, it is classified into forged hook and laminated hook.
The single hook is simply manufactured and easy to use. However, the stress condition of this type of lifting hook is poor. It is mostly used in the working conditions where lifting capacity is less than 80 tons. When the lifting capacity is larger than that, double hook with symmetrical stress can be employed.
The laminated hook is riveted by a number of steel plates. Due to such construction, the hoisting hook can not be damaged when some individual plate has cracks, thus ensuring high safety. But, this type of lifting hook comes with relatively large deadweight. In most cases, it is used with the cranes that have large lifting capacity or are used to handle ladle.
