The potassium formate solid is white, non-toxic and non-corrosive, in density of 1.9100g/cm3, smelling slightly like formic acid. It has reductive ability and can react with strong oxidizing agents. The formic acid potassium salt easily absorbs moisture, and is soluble in water and glycerin, slightly soluble in methanol. Its solubility at 25 ℃ is 310g/100g water. The melting point is 253 ℃. When heated intensely, the potassium formate solid releases hydrogen.

5. Usage
The potassium formate solid can be used for the following purposes:
a) widely used in oil industry as a high performance drilling fluid, completion fluid, and workover fluid.
b) in snow melt agent industry, because the acetate as additive leaves too strong smell ofacetic acid after melting snow, and causes a certain degree of corrosion to the ground, it is gradually replaced by the potassium formate solid, which has good snow meltingperformance while overcoming all the disadvantages of acetate. c) in the leather industry, used as camouflage acid for chrome tanning method;

6. Storage and Handling
