Pilot Retort

DTS pilot retort is a multifunctional test sterilization retort, which offers multiple modes of operation in one machine, such as spray (water spray, cascade, side spray), water immersion, steam, rotation, etc. Any combination of several sterilization methods is configurable, making it the best option for laboratory and food producers in need of new product development. In addition, the retort is extraordinary in formulating sterilization process of new products, measuring F0 value, and simulating the sterilization environment in mass production.

Features
Accurate temperature control, excellent heat distribution
The temperature control module developed by DTS allows for up to 12 stages of temperature control. The heating mode is available in step or linearity to accommodate the specific formulations of different products. Thus, the repeatability and stability between batches of products are well ensured, with a temperature accuracy within ±0.5℃.
Precise pressure control, suitable for different package types
The pressure control module developed by DTS continuously changes the pressure during the entire process to adapt to the pressure variations inside the package. This minimizes the deformation of the package, no matter whether it is rigid container of aluminum/tin cans, or plastic bottles/boxes, or flexible pouches. The pressure accuracy is within ±0.05bar.
Highly clean product package
Heat exchanger is applied for indirect heating and cooling, thus avoiding secondary contamination caused by the steam and cooling water since they do not come into contacting with the process water. Besides, water treatment chemicals such as chlorine are no longer required, and the service life of the heat exchanger can also be considerably extended.
Energy saving and eco friendly
DTS’s independently developed premium spiral-wound heat exchanger features high heat exchange efficiency and energy saving. A small amount of process water is used for circulation, enabling the sterilizing temperature to be reached quickly. Low noise creates a silent and comfortable working environment.

How It Works

First, send the product into the sterilization retort in a basket and then close the door, which is secured by a triple safety interlock.

Next, use the knob or the touch screen to select the sterilization method and download the formula to the PLC. After confirming that everything is correct, start the sterilization process, which will run automatically by the PLC.

The spiral heat exchanger in the retort allows the process water to flow in one side, and the steam in the other, so that germ-free sterilization can be achieved as the product won’t come directly into contact with the steam. The pressure inside the sterilization retort is set by program-controlled automatic valves that allow compressed air flowing into or out of the resort.

Finally, wait for the alarm signal for completing the sterilization. And the door can then be opened and the product can be unloaded. The triple safety interlock ensures the retort won’t be opened when there’s internal pressure, so as to guarantee safety.

The temperature distribution inside the retort has a uniformity of /- 0.5℃. The pressure is controlled at 0.05 bar.
