Aerial Fiber Optic Cable
Aerial fiber optic cables are hung on poles, towers, and other self-supporting structures in varied terrain (though flat terrain is best). Overhead cables, when laid on existing overhead open-wire poles, are fast and save construction costs. These aerial cables are great for long-distance lines of class two or lower and for cable lines of private or sectional networks, though they are more susceptible to environmental conditions than buried or piped fiber optic cables. We offer both catenary and self-supporting overhead cables.
Laying Requirements:
1. Hang cables with hooks in flat terrain and strap cables in steep or sloped terrain. Cable connectors should be easy to access for maintenance. Reserved cables should be fixed on poles with reserved brackets.
2. A U-shaped expansion bend is required for every 3-5 poles and 15m per one kilometer should be reserved.
3. The section leading up to overhead wall construction should be protected by galvanized steel tubes packed with fire-resistant clay.
4. Cable warning signs should be hung around every four poles or in special sections crossing roads, rivers, bridges, etc.
5. A ternary protection tube stretching not less than 1 meter at each end is provided where an overhead cable path meets a power line.
6. To prevent shock from induced current of catenary, every pole brace should be connected with catenary electricity and a catenary ground wire directly spliced and grounded at the terminal is required for every pole brace.
