Product Overview

Ensuring fast and secure fuel discharge, the bottom valve is a critical safety component installed at the base of petroleum tankers. Our aluminum alloy emergency shut-off valve is engineered for use in petroleum and crude oil applications, offering excellent flow capacity and quick-response functionality under emergency conditions.

This high-performance aluminum alloy foot valve supports two actuation options: external air exhaust control and manual cable release, providing operational flexibility in the field. It is compatible with diesel, biodiesel, gasoline, ethanol, and methanol, and is fitted with chemical-resistant seals for enhanced product compatibility and durability.

Safety & Compliance

The bottom valve is equipped with a shear groove, designed and tested according to 49CFR178.345-8 and ADR certification standards. In the event of an impact, the outer housing separates at the groove while maintaining a tight seal with the tank flange, preventing fuel leakage and protecting the integrity of the tanker’s internal valve mechanism.

Operating Pressure

For crude oil applications, the valve opens with a minimum line pressure of 70 psi (4.83 bar) to counter a tank pressure of 35 psi (2.41 bar). For refined petroleum, a minimum line pressure of 30 psi (2.06 bar) is required. The aluminum alloy foot valve complies with API 1004 and EN 13083 standards.

Features
  • Constructed from lightweight aluminum alloy, the bottom valve offers high strength and excellent physical performance.
  • The aluminum cast body combined with high-grade stainless steel components ensures long service life and durability.
  • A high-lift valve core increases flow area and reduces resistance, enabling maximum flow efficiency.
  • The external shear groove is designed in compliance with TMMA and NTTC DOT 406 standards, helping to contain product spillage in case of an accident.
  • Dual O-ring seals on the camshaft improve sealing performance and make maintenance more convenient.
  • The valve cover assembly is fully removable, allowing seal replacement without detaching the valve from the tanker.
  • A built-in mesh strainer helps prevent seal damage by filtering debris before it enters the valve.

The bottom loading foot valve is installed at the bottom of the tanker and can be operated pneumatically or mechanically. During loading and unloading, the valve opens to allow product flow. In the event of an emergency, such as an accident or external impact, the valve automatically closes to prevent fuel leakage and enhance overall safety.

Yes, our bottom valves are equipped with a built-in emergency shut-off mechanism. The valve will automatically close when subjected to strong impact or a drop in air pressure, effectively sealing the tank to prevent spills and improve transport safety.
