Water-cooled dry-type transformer forgoes transformer oil for cooling water to prevent transformer components from overheating. Note that the cooling water is not in any physical contact with the components to be cooled, but rather it circulates in tubes for fast heat dissipation and easy maintenance.
The iron core, cylindrical in shape, is wrapped with water circulating tubes for heat dissipation.
