Pink Fused Alumina
Pink aluminum oxide or ruby aluminum oxide is made by aluminum oxide powder, which is electrically fused at high-temperature by adding appropriate amount of chromium oxide, etc. It is pink or ruby. Its hardness is similar to white aluminum oxide, but its toughness is higher than white aluminum oxide.
Our PA and RA can also be used in coated abrasive. It is also used for sanding ferrous metal, such as copper, brass, etc. PA and RA are more durable and unable to break.
Applications
- Ideal for sandblasting, pink fused alumina is suitable for surface treatments in industries such as hardware, glass, zinc alloys, aluminum alloys, stainless steel, high carbon steel, and high-speed steel. Particularly effective for thin-walled work pieces, it ensures minimal discoloration and achieves high processing smoothness.
- Tools made from pink fused alumina offer sharp cutting edges, low heat generation, high grinding efficiency, and minimal clogging during use. Sintered grinding tools exhibit deep blue coloration post-firing, devoid of mesh-like cracks or rust spots.
- Known for its durability and superior surface finish, pink fused alumina tools are suitable for precision grinding applications such as measuring instruments, machine tool spindles, instrument components, threaded parts, and template grinding.
- Pink fused alumina finds utility in the production of ceramics, resin-bonded grinding tools, as well as grinding and polishing applications.

Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process of pink fused alumina mirrors that of white fused alumina, with the addition of chromium oxide during smelting, resulting in a light purple or rose hue. The introduction of Cr3 in pink fused alumina enhances its toughness compared to white fused alumina while maintaining similar hardness. When processing tougher materials, pink fused alumina demonstrates higher efficiency than white fused alumina, yielding superior surface smoothness. Ideal for processing high-toughness materials such as quenched steel, alloy steel, precision measuring instruments, and instrument components that demand high surface finish requirements.
