Domed buttons are generally recommended for hard and abrasive rock formations, as they provide superior wear resistance and longer service life. Sharp buttons are more suitable for soft to medium-soft rock formations. Under these conditions, sharp buttons typically achieve faster penetration rates than domed buttons.
