Brushless DC planetary gear motor relies on one or several pieces of permanent magnet to establish a magnetic field. It alters its speed by changing the armature voltage, similar to the working principle of separately excited DC motor. Brushless DC geared motor shows smaller volume, higher efficiency, simpler structure, and less copper consumption comparing with separately excited DC motor. It is a typical small-power DC gear motor.

1. Type of motor
We recommend ferrite permanent magnet DC gear motor, which features high working efficiency, low cost, and little temperature rise. Aluminum nickel cobalt or rare earth permanent magnet DC motors are only considered when there are high requirements on motor performance, volume, and working temperature.

2. About motor power
The max output power of motor is limited. If the motor power is too small, there may be an overload, which will lead to overheat, vibration, speed reduction, and noise. Seriously, the motor may be burnt down. Besides, it will be an energy waste if choosing motor with too large power.

3. Motor specification
For occasions when the voltage is adjustable, users can select motor with specification approximate to the rated value of products, and change the rotating speed by adjusting the voltage.
When the voltage is fixed, and there is no suitable specification for option, users are suggested to make decision according to the torque, and then do some adjustment between the voltage and the rotating speed.

Precautions for Use
a. Generally, without special instructions, reverse braking mode is not allowed for permanent magnet DC gear motor (ferrite/ Aluminum nickel cobalt permanent magnet DC gear motor), or it may cause a demagnetization of the permanent magnet. If it is compulsory, users should mount current limiting resistance to the motor.

b. A preliminary check is required before using the motors:
Firstly check the motor appearance to see if there are scratches or other detects. Then pull the motor shaft to ensure that it moves flexibly. After you have made sure that the wires are mounted firmly and securely, turn the motor on. When the motor is rotating, there shouldn't be any vibration, and if your motor works with abnormal noise or local overheat phenomenon, it could be most likely attribute to the friction of bearings.

c. Many factors may lead to demagnetization of permanent magnet, like over current, temperature change, and open circuit that happened during installing. Particularly, users should especially remember to take some measures to prevent open circuit when installing or dismantling Aluminum nickel cobalt PM motor.
