Dry-Type Reactor
Dry-TypeReactor
The dry-typereactor is an important component in a power supply system, the most commonlyseen being the series reactor and shunt reactor. A series reactor, also called current-limiting reactor, is placed between a loadand power source to limit the current of short circuit.
There are also dry-type reactors connected either in series or parallel with acapacitor in an electric filter to limit high harmonic currents. In a typical220kV, 110kV, 35kV or 10kV power grid, a reactor is a good way to compensatereactive power. By increasing or reducing the number of parallel-connectedreactors in a power supply line, users can change line voltage.
Functionsof Dry-Type Reactor
1.
2. Improves voltage distribution on long-distance power transmission line
3. Reduces line power loss, improves power factor
4. When connected in parallel with large equipment, the shunt reactor reducessteady-state voltage transients on the high-voltage power line, thus making iseasier for multiple generators to operate in parallel at the same time.
5. Alleviates resonance problems due the long cable connected to the generator.
6. When the neutral point of the reactor is connected to ground, it can be usedto compensate line capacitance between the three phases or phase and neutral. This shunt reactor also eliminates secondary arc currents.
Haolai current-limiting reactorsare available in two configurations: iron coreand air core, in currents ranging from
